New I-75 Overpass Would Connect LWR Waterside to N Cattlemen Rd

Proposed Waterside-UTC connector could open in late 2025

First announced in 2016, the proposed I-75 overpass to connect LWR Waterside to N Cattlemen Road at the south end of Benderson Park, would help to provide increased east / west access to the popular University Town Center (UTC) area for the many residents and growing communities east of the Interstate. The proposed overpass would also help to relieve current and future traffic congestion at the busy Fruitville Road and University Pkwy intersections. The project, which is still undergoing a Project Development & Environment (PDE) Study, could potentially break ground in 2023 once FDOT and local governments have reviewed all aspects of the study, including design, budget and environmental impacts.

I-75 Overpass Project Overview

• Would connect Lakewood Ranch Blvd to N Cattlemen Rd
• Four lanes total (two westbound & two eastbound)
• Space for pedestrians and bicyclists
• Project would start in 2023 and be completed by late 2025
